Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Dallas Mavericks Betting Preview

The Cavs and the Mavs, the rhyming name team, will get together Monday night in D-town. Both teams have had their ups this year and have had to deal with their share of injuries. Cleveland opened up at 9-5 before losing Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, among others. But, they will expect to remain competitive. And as for the Mavericks, they should feel good that Luka is back.

Cleveland was able to snap a five-game skid in a sort-of sloppy battle with the Magic on Saturday night. All that did matter, though, was that they emerged from it with a win and their mojo back. They will not see Collin Sexton on the court before the start of next season, but no time has been wasted by Darius Garland, trying to establish himself as the guard of the future.

On the other side, it is still unclear if Jalen Brunson will suit up for this one. If he does, it gives the Mavericks a legitimate sixth man who can run the show during Luka’s bench spells. JB has been fantastic all season and is a real candidate for the sixth man of the year. Kristaps Porzingis has bounced back in a major way, obviously unfazed by last season’s drama.

This promises to be a good battle between teams with great point guards and unicorns at the PF spot.

Betting Odds & Lines

Monday night’s spread is currently set at DAL -6. The over/under is sitting at 207 points. The CLE moneyline is +207, while DAL is -250.

Cavs Seeking Win Streak

Having two streaks of at least three wins in a row on the young season, the Cavs will try and make it two in a row on Monday night. They beat Orlando in their last time out, and a tough stretch of games now re-launches with this Mavericks contest. Luka Doncic is going to be the one they have to slow down.

And on the other side, they need to create and make looks from a distance. The three seven-footers sharing the court together have to use their length to wreak havoc on D while making their best moves on the offensive end of things.

Look for Darius Garland to lock in early and Isaac Okoro to take the Doncic challenge personally.

Mavs Aim for Eleventh Win

Just like their opponents, the Mavs have won 10 games on the year. It has been up and down for them, with no significant growth from a year ago. Frank Ntilikina, who will be out for this game, has provided good value to his team’s bench. As has another ex-Knick who entered the fray, Reggie Bullock.

But, the biggest change was at head coach. Jason Kidd runs the show now after a long time with Rick Carlisle in charge. That has not proven to change much, though it was actually the former HC’s choice to leave and take a job with Indiana.

They need to share the ball and make their shots. And not rely too heavily on Doncic if they want to win.
