Cleveland Cavaliers vs Miami Heat Betting Preview

The Cavs head to Miami to face a Heat team that has had their number from the days they first started playing one another. Sure, Cleveland had a 148-80 win over Miami back in 1990, but the Heat have 22 more wins than CLE in the all-time head-to-head and have now won the last six meetings coming into this one, their first of the year.

With LeBron not in Cleveland, the Cavs usually find ways to lose to the Heat. They even blew a 27-point lead back in 2013, so this is not something new. But, they have not faced their trio of seven-footers on the court together, and it can definitely turn the tide. Nine of Cleveland’s 11 wins this year have come with them being listed as the betting underdog.

As for the Heat, they re-tooled a little, and it has worked to perfection. Kyle Lowry and P.J. Tucker have helped to beef up the defense while adding some nice value on the offensive end. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo have continued to play well as expected. And now Tyler Herro suddenly averaged 22-3-5 off the bench, because, of course.

Both of these teams have looked good to this point in the year. After their first-round sweep last year, the Heat knew that they had to be better. Cleveland gets better day by day.

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for Wednesday night is set at MIA -6.5. The over/under is 204.5 points. The CLE moneyline is +205, and the MIA line is -250.

Cavs Seek Third Straight Win

Everything that happens to the Cavs this year happens in bunches. They are either going to go on a winning streak or a losing one. It has been rare for them to alternate things, so coming in with a two-game winning run, things just off the bat would seem to point in their favor.

When Evan Mobley is on the court, the team is 11-7. They are 0-4 when he sits, and he also lost a fifth game where he was unable to close it out. Few rookies have ever been this valuable this early on in their NBA careers.

Mobley and Jarrett Allen hold the keys to a Cavs win, using their size to make life hard on defense while finishing lobs and mid-range shots on O.

Miami Looks for Fourteenth Win

With Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro expected to play, the Heat will have all their top guys out there. When that is the case, they will usually come away with a win. Both of them got the day off against Denver, and it resulted in the team’s eighth defeat of the year to date.

They have got Bam Adebayo to wreak havoc in the middle. Duncan Robinson to splash all the threes. And then Jimmy, Herro, Lowry, Caleb Martin, and the others to just be effective in what they are asked of. They are well-coached and have a lot of potential this year.

Cavs Cover

The game will be closer than expected, as Cleveland covers as the underdog.

Betting Picks: CLE +6.5, Under 204.5
